This week we are exciting about the beginning of the annual Hunter OC Thinkfest competition.
This is a great competition in which we get to test out our research, design, make and drama skills. There are four groups and four problems to solve. This year the problems are:
Maths; The Ruler that would Rule
Visual: Consider the metaphors ‘if walls could talk’ and ‘just another brick in the wall’
Science: Make the most useless adventure ever and convince everyone that they can’t live without it.
English: All of the world’s a stage. All day you can ONLY sing rap or rhyme.
Each group has the challenge of designing and making a prop to use in a skit that shows knowledge and understanding of the topic. Each group also has to act out their skit in front of a backdrop that they paint and finally they have to present a visual diary showing the learning journey.

Your Thinkfest challenge sounds like you’ll learn quite a bit and it will be fun. We have to use drama in our social studies class, too.
Right now we creating puppet shows from different cultures. Australia, Egypt, Zulu, Sumer, China and Greece. Our Australia information didn’t include the information you mentioned on the blog….so maybe we could exchange ideas about these original people. We could learn from your class.
Thanks for reading our blog and we look forward to learning from your class.
Hello!
I really like the sound of Thinkfest! Its sounds fun and very interesting! Good luck to all the contestants!
Hi, 5/6C!
The Thinkfest sounds very fun and interesting. It would be cool to make a completely useless adventure that you couldn’t live without, and it would be even cooler to sing the whole day in rap or rhyme. Is it just a school thing, or is it like a worldwide challenge?
From Janis
Hi Janis
Thinkfest is very fun and interesting and it is sort of a school thing but only for OC’s (opportunity class).
I am in neither of these groups but in another one but it is still heaps of fun.
Thanks again for commenting,
Maya of the 5/6C blogging club.
